On Nov 7 divers reached what was initially described as an unidentified object resting in 25 meters of water just after 9:30 a.m. 20 kilometers from the coastline.

The ship was initially spotted on Nov 4 and now identified as the wreck of the missing "Amurskaya".

The nine crew members remained unaccounted for. Experts believed that the cargo shifted amid a heavy pitching in a stormy weather that resulted in the ship’s immediate capsizing and sinking.

The general director of the Nikolayevsk-on-Amur seaport, Alexander Shiltsin, has been detained for violation of the navigation safety rules and the steering of vessels that entailed the death of two and more people through negligence.
