  Fernanda evacuated after engine room fire off Iceland

The Icelandic Coast Guard received a request for assistance from the "Fernanda" with a crew of 11 on board, after a fire erupted in the engine room on Oct 30, 2013, south of Iceland. Within two hours, a Coast Guard helicopter was on scene and airlifted the crew to safety. The 11 crewmembers, who were all uninjured, have been taken to Reykjavik.

Meanwhile, the Coast Guard ship "Thor" was sent to the scene to commence firefighting operations. Firefighting operations have commenced and were to continue throughout the night. The ship was enroute from Thyborön to Hafnarfjodur at that time.
